What Footfall reads

Footfall reads step count and walking and running distance from Apple Health (HealthKit), with your permission. Footfall never writes anything to Apple Health. The Apple Watch app reads the same two types from Apple Health on the watch itself; step counts are never sent between your devices.

Where your data goes

Nowhere. Footfall makes no network requests. There is no server, no account, no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no third party of any kind. The app contains no code capable of sending your data anywhere. Everything Footfall reads from HealthKit stays on your iPhone, in memory and in local on-device storage, for as long as the app is installed.

HealthKit and advertising

In line with Apple's App Store guidelines (5.1.3), Footfall never uses HealthKit data, or any data derived from it, for advertising, marketing, or any purpose other than showing your own step activity back to you inside the app.

iCloud

Footfall's data is not stored in iCloud and is not backed up outside your device through the app itself. Apple Health may sync via iCloud according to your own iCloud/Health settings — that is between you and Apple Health, not something Footfall controls or accesses.

Accounts

There is no Footfall account, login, or user profile of any kind.

In-app purchase

Footfall Plus is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Footfall never sees or stores your payment details, name, or billing address — that information is handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy.

Children

Footfall does not knowingly collect data from anyone, adult or child, because Footfall does not collect data at all. Footfall is not directed at children and contains no feature aimed at collecting information from them.

Revoking access

You can revoke Footfall's access to Apple Health at any time in Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Footfall, then turn off each category you no longer want to share. Footfall will simply show no data once access is revoked.

Deleting your data

Because nothing leaves your device, deleting your data is the same as deleting the app: uninstall Footfall from your iPhone and every trace it kept locally is removed with it. Your underlying Apple Health data is untouched, since Footfall only ever reads it.
