Trajan, privacy
Trajan collects nothing. No account, no sign up, no analytics, no advertising, no third party code, and no server of mine behind it.
Your trips
Trips, vehicles, learned places and settings are saved on your iPhone, in the app's own storage and in a settings file the app shares with its widgets and its Live Activity. The app sends none of it to me or to anyone else. Deleting the app deletes all of it. I hold no copy, so there is nothing for me to export, correct or erase on your behalf.
The App Store privacy answer for the app is Data Not Collected.
Location
Trajan asks for location "While Using the App", never "Always". It reads your position only while a trip you started is recording, and the distance is worked out on the iPhone. To keep a trip recording with the screen locked, the app uses the iOS background location mode, for that trip only: iOS shows its location indicator, and the recording stops when you end the trip. There is no automatic trip detection and no tracking between trips. Each trip keeps a simplified route, drawn on its map.
Location is optional. You can add trips by hand, with addresses or an odometer reading, and "Try a sample trip" replays a file that ships inside the app, without using your position.
Apple Maps
Trajan uses Apple's MapKit for the parts that need a map service. When a trip ends, the app sends the start and end positions to Apple to get their addresses, never the route in between, and it asks again later if you were offline. When you add a trip by hand, the addresses you type are sent to Apple to find matches, and Apple works out the road distance between two addresses. Apple handles these requests under its own privacy policy. I receive nothing from them.
Purchases
Trajan Pro is bought through the App Store. Apple takes the payment and tells the app whether Pro is unlocked, and nothing about who you are. I never see your Apple Account or your payment details, only the sales totals Apple reports without names.
Reports, backups and web links
PDF and CSV reports and backup files are made on the iPhone and go only where you choose to share them. They are plain files, readable by anyone who has them, and a backup also holds the route of each trip, so keep them somewhere you trust. The Rates screen links to the official page of each rate, which opens in a web view like any visit to that site, and Trajan sends nothing with it.
Permissions and tracking
Location is the only permission Trajan asks for: no notifications, contacts, photos, camera or microphone. The app does not track you across apps or websites.
Changes
If any of this stops being true, this page changes before the app does.
